Teeth
Toothpaste
What I use:
Other options:
- Dr. Bronner’s Magic Soaps - I know, I know… it’s soap. But I’m telling you, this soap makes a really tasty toothpaste! Just use a drop or two on your brush. I tried peppermint, but I hear that almond is tasty too.
- Tooth Soap – little slivers of peppermint soap, made especially for your teeth. I found mine on Etsy.
- Homemade Toothpaste – If you’re feeling particularly adventurous, there are lots of homemade toothpaste recipes online. If you are less picky than me, you can brush with straight baking soda.
Here are some facts about “conventional” toothpaste.
Toothbrush
What I use:
- Cebra wooden toothbrush - This wooden toothbrush with natural bristles can be tossed into the compost pile, or added to your next bonfire.
Other options:
- Preserve toothbrush - made of recycled plastic. It can be sent back to the company and recycled when you have finished with it.
Dental Floss
What I use:
- Radius natural silk floss - the packaging and the dispenser are recyclable. The floss is made of silk, so it’s biodegradable.
Other options:
- Dentek floss pick - Picks are great because they allow you to use an inch of floss instead of a foot, but most of them are made to use once and then toss. This one is made of biodegradable material, but it’s unclear if you could actually get it to break down in a residential compost pile.
- Eco-dent floss - a “vegan nylon floss”
